The ingredients needed to make Yakiudon:
  1. Prepare 100-150 g Pork *thinly sliced
  2. Make ready 1/2 Onion
  3. Prepare 1/2 Carrot
  4. Prepare 3-4 leaves Cabbage
  5. Get 1 tablespoon Oil
  6. Take Salt & Pepper
  7. Make ready Cooked Udon Noodles 2 servings
  8. Get Okaka/Katsuobushi (Bonito Flakes) *optional
  9. Get Spring Onion *finely chopped, optional
  10. Take <Sauce>
  11. Take 1 teaspoon Dashi Powder
  12. Prepare 2-3 tablespoons Soy Sauce
  13. Prepare 2 tablespoons Sake (Rice Wine) OR Water

Even though Yakiudon isn't fancy Japanese food, with a lot of vegetables and meat, it is still a very good thing for you to eat. Yaki udon in Japanese translates to "fried udon." It is a dish of stir-fried udon noodles with shredded meat, julienned vegetables, soy sauce, and mirin. Stir fry fresh udon -yaki udon. Steps to make Yakiudon:
  1. Prepare all vegetables and pork. Cut vegetables into strips and slice Pork thinly.
  2. Prepare Udon Noodles according to the instruction on the package. If you use already cooked Udon noodles, soak in hot water to loosen, then drain well.
  3. Make sauce by mixing all the sauce ingredients in a small bowl.
  4. Heat Oil in a large frying pan or wok, cook Pork and Vegetables and season with Salt and Pepper. Once the Pork is cooked, add Udon Noodles and toss and mix all well. Add the sauce, toss and mix to combine well.
  5. Sprinkle Katsuobushi (Bonito Flakes) and chopped Spring Onion on top and enjoy.

Yaki Udon (焼きうどん) is a Japanese udon noodles stir-fried with your choice of protein and vegetables. Protein can be thinly sliced meat or any seafood suitable for stir-fry. My mom never made me stir fry yaki udon as a kid, but she did make bowls and bowls of other kinds of noodles. When I'm looking for some fast comfort, yakiudon is one of my go to meals. My recipe was inspired by that yaki udon version, only I replaced the mirin with Sliced meat is the most commonly used meat in takeout fried noodles and yaki udon.
